PERSONAL CARE

When you live with a disability, you understand how challenging it can be to perform daily routine. Fortunately, our highly skilled carers are well equipped to assist you with any personal care tasks you need and can’t perform on your own. Personal care services we provide can include:

CORE SUPPORT

As recognised by NDIS, core support are supports that enable an individual to complete activities of daily living. Core support can assist an individual achieve their personal goals and objectives. Core support can include:

Assistance with daily life:

Assistance with daily life is a core support items designed to allow participants live as independently as possible – in your home or out in the community. Our support workers are highly skilled in providing support that can include:

  • Helping you stay on top of your routine.

  • Helping you make decisions for your household.

  • Assisting with domestic duties.

  • Assisting with meal preparation, eating and drinking.

  • Home cleaning duties, including vacuuming, mopping and dusting around the house.

Consumables:

Consumables are products that can given individuals more confidence and help them become more independent. Consumables can include the following things:

  • Continence aids, such as nappies and pull-ups.

  • Assistive technology products, such as a walking stick or an eating aid.

  • Interpretation and translation devices, including Auslan training, telephone or video interpreting services.

Personal Activities:

DCSSA’s supportive team of workers is able to assist you or your loved ones with activities to support participation in the greater community. We will assist you to succeed in your set goals through motivation, guidance and mentoring. We will support you in your personal activities that can include:

  • General Wellness – such as, going to gym, a walk in the park, etc.

  • Socialising – assisting you with visiting a family member or a friend.

  • Community partcipation – supporting you in attending community events, etc.

  • Recreation – helping you with your recreational activities, including support with a hobby or an interest, sporting activities, etc.

Transport:

If your disability limits your use of public transport and you require help to travel to work, or a place of activity, you could receive funding for transport in your core support budget. Our support workers will be able to assist with your travel needs within NDIS guidelines.

MEAL PREPARATION

DCSSA can help with your needs towards meal preparation tasks to ensure you are getting a healthy and balanced diet to improve your quality of life. These may include:

  • Shopping for groceries.

  • Preparing your meals or assisting you with cooking.

  • Helping develops meal plans and menus.

  • Help you in the kitchen with washing of dishes, etc.

  • Helping with food storage and organisation.

  • Helping you maintain your eating routine.

DEVELOPING LIFE SKILLS

You or your loved one may have a disability that limits your ability to live independently. DCSSA’s workers are well equipped and trained to support you in achieving your goals.

We work hard to ensure that we create a skills development environment with you which is both safe and comfortable for you. Our support workers can help you learn and enhance your skills at your pace, and can assist you with:

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

CLEANING AND DOMESTIC ASSISTANCE

We can assist with cleaning and domestic chores that an individual may find difficult due to a disability. These may be basic jobs around the house, however they can help make your day to day life more enjoyable. These services can include:

  • Vacuuming, sweeping and mopping the floors.

  • Dusting around the house.
